the emancipation

Oh lord, that smile spread across your face,
but it was doing nothing more than hiding distaste.
Because over my shoulder,
you saw him with another,
just as lips pressed and locked together.

You spoke no words.
With poison in your veins,
you could only stare with swords
fueled by a hope so vain.

"I cried so terribly loud."
That's what you thought,
but it was only in your head.
You kept saying, "It's all in my head,"
over and over again.

Then you remembered how you thought
with him it would be;
one and one, soon to make three --
a picturesque family.
