nashville (a photo essay . . . with words)

The trip . . . well . . . the trip sucked, at least for the most part.

Problemo numero uno: school trip with least favorite teacher of all time. Yes I have graduated, but Lauren and I made it to nationals in a speaking competition that neither of us really wanted to attend so we had to. Anyway, long story short, we didn't practice and made 12th in the nation.

The hotel was nice though. Although the name was quite questionable: Gaylord Opryland Hotel. Felt like I was in a meet the parents rip off with trees everywhere. The entire hotel/resort is indoors. It has a big glass ceiling that makes you feel outside, plus it has tropical plants and trees everywhere. The ground floor is a giant garden.

I had sushi for the 2nd time. What I had was called a rainbow roll (the name fit with the hotel theme). Pretty good stuff. The other kind I've had is a California roll (is any one else seeing a pattern? that's really bad).

What really sucked about the trip though was that I never really even got to go to Nashville. We were all prisoners of Master Gaylord the entire time. We never left hotel grounds until we took the old guy dinner cruise (which was brought to us by [who else?] Gaylord Entertainment!). Food was okay. View=beautiful (skyline, water, etc.) Show was quite questionable but we made it fun. At the bar on the boat there was a Jack and Coke just sitting there waiting for the waiter to come by and pick it up. I decided to play waiter. But I failed because I ended up drinking it. Fletcher and I both left the booze at the house so we didn't have any for 6 days other than that.

I ate a whole lot. Shopped a whole lot. They have a huge mall (at least to me. I am from Arkansas.) I bought a few things. So did everyone else. Tried to get watch Super-Man on the I-MAX in 3-D which would have been awesome, but time didn't allow it. They had a really cool mini-golf place too. "Glow Golf" Black lights with the special paint blah blah blah, so yeh, my ADD was going crazy in there.

Blew a lot of money I probably shouldn't have. I still need a car. Actually worse right now. My mom's vehicle's air went out so we are all car-pooling and sharing and dropping each other off. It sucks. Especially when I put the gas money in the truck and then they end up driving it.

More bad news . . . due to last week's trip I got no paycheck. Boss is sick this week plus marital problems, etc. so probably no work this week either. That means no money coming in to help pay for a lap top or car or the new peavey amp I just bought, which sounds awesome. But I did get more time off which I like.

If you didn't notice, I'm starting to take some "impressionist-style" photos now. Yeah, basically that does mean moving the camera as you take the picture, but they really do look cool, especially with light *smears(?). They just don't turn out as well when you use a camera phone.

Later.

Rainbow Roll?

Right....

Yeah I know, I know. It's because of the wide variety of colors of fish, crab, and veggies in it (atleast supposedly).

Did you go clothes shopping? Shoe shopping? These girly details are important to know.

And congrats on the 12th place finish. :)

Love the pictures! I painted a new picture that i know you will like.

It is of buildings but in a new perspective.

I also finished "of mice and men" and am starting on "on the road". I let you know if it is good or not.

Hi, Seth!

I got your email, but I am surprised that my LHS email is not yet obsolete. From now on, email me at andreaglenn@centurytel.net.

I have been to Nashville many times, and even to that mall, if you are referring to the one next to the aforementioned fabulous ;)Opryland Hotel. I was in Clarksville, TN just last weekend, as a matter of fact. That's about an hour outside of Nashville.

Hope you and Lauren are great. You know I love you both. I want to hear what your plans for the fall are.

Take care!
Andrea

LAWren: can't wait to see the pic. i know you loved of mice and men, it's inevitable. but you can still tell me how you liked it.

Andrea: yeh it was opryland mall or whatever. just goin to asu-beebe. nothing to really brag about. planning on loading up on english and maybe a little theatre. not sure yet though.

OMG! Tears for Fears! I wore that "Songs from the Big Chair" tape out. They're the best. Yes; I said TAPE. Do you also listen to old Depeche Mode? Love me some Depeche Mode. Would this Brandon be the same one who hilariously shared his Vanilla Ice tape with you??

Yeh I like depeche mode too. Um . . . not sure about Vanilla Ice. It's possible. Probably more of my sister's or a couple of my old friends' taste though. But who knows?
